Computer died.
It was limping along for about a week or so... I should have probably paid it more attention.
Then it started booting up and shutting down on it's own. That should have been a dead give away.
Yesterday it made some funny noise, and 'poof' it gave up the ghost.
Looks like the OS hard drive crapped out. Good thing all my photos are on a secondary disk, all 80 Gig.
I'm thinking real hard about getting a Raid array now... Can't afford to lose all my work...
So until the PC is fixed, no photos, no drawings, no fun. I'll just go back to lurking around dA.

Oh crap...
Always keep backups of your photos/work.
My laptop drive died recently, taking with it probably six months worth of photos. Crap.
New system up an running
So I finally switched full time to running Linux. New system is Debian stable/testing with a hint of unstable distros. :D
I've also upgraded my display to dual screen, much nicer for working on photos and pictures:

Gimp is configured, so is Inkscape... I just need to finish setup for the tablet and I'll be all set......
New GIMP is out!
Gimp 2.4 is out and can be obtained at http://www.gimp.org (gimp.org).
And man, is it ever an improvement over the previous version! More tools, better control, more options, and memory management seems a lot better as well.
Bit of a tip, the upgrade from 2.2 messed up my Wacom controls. Resetting input devices to defaults and restarting Gimp fixed that.
First sale and subscription!
Woot!!!
Made first sale! Found out this morning that Sumatran Tiger:

has been approved for sale and someone bought one. Not much of a profit, but it's still cool that someone bought one!
Oh, and yesterday I finally upgraded my dA account. Wow, the browsing experience is much better now. I think it's worth the thirty bucks for a year.
And I'm still knee deep in photo editing, and lagging behind. I really must finish my zoo series from this summer, and get some of the other GIMP projects off the shelf and up on dA.
And I've got my next art show to prep for in October. I think tigers will be a big part of it.... ;)
